When you start learning Open Chords, you’ll come across a bunch of different ways of naming each chord.
Major Chords
Let’s take the D Major Chord as an example.
The D Major Chord can be written like so:
1. The Open D Major Chord
2. The D Major Chord
3. The D Chord
For the sake of simplicity, I’ll be referring to it as just The D Chord. The same goes for all other open major chords.
Minor Chords
Now let’s take a look at the D Minor Chord.
The D Minor Chord can be written like so:
1. The Open D Minor Chord
2. The D Minor Chord
2. The Dm Chord
Again, for the sake of simplicity, I’ll be referring to it as just the Dm Chord. And the same goes for all other minor chords.
