Guitar Lessons from (Virtually!) Anywhere
Modern technology and quicker internet speeds now allow you to take guitar lessons from anywhere in the world. All you need is a guitar, a screen and an internet connection.
I teach people across the UK using Zoom and Skype from my home in Cardiff, Wales. These platforms also allow me to teach internationally.
My Experience Teaching Online
In 2015, after seven years of living and teaching in London, UK, I moved back home to Wales. My London-based students wanted to continue their lessons and so I made the service available online via Skype.
I’ve learnt a lot along the way and I’m confident that with this experience, I can achieve the online guitar lesson results you’re after. But don’t just take my word for it, check out my testimonials here.
What to Expect
Zoom guitar lessons are a little different from in-person guitar lessons, and the following tips will help you if you’re thinking of the virtual plunge:
Journal, Journal, Journal
Don’t forget a notepad and pen! I encourage my students (online and in-person) to journal their guitar lessons. There are all sorts of fun ways to do this to help what you learn sink in and enable you to reflect on your development.
Backing Tracks v Jamming
Because of the slight lag with online platforms like Zoom and Skype, we won’t be able to jam in real-time, so jamming is replaced with backing tracks. I can help you find the right tracks to ensure your lesson is on point and fun!
Plug-In, Light Up
Before you start your lessons, it’s important to trial your internet connection capabilities first. If the stream is smooth, you’re good to go!
Also, ensure you’re in a well-lit area so things can be seen clearly. And if you’re using an electric guitar, plug-in to ensure that I can hear you well.
The Benefits of Zoom Guitar Lessons
Online guitar lessons provide you with a safe way to learn the guitar from the comfort (and safety – in these uncertain times) of your own home.
You can have a guitar lesson at any time from anywhere. You don’t need to “commute” to guitar lessons, saving you precious time!
You’re not constrained by geography or time. I offer discounts to ‘day-time’ (based on UK BST/ GMT, which can also be beneficial for international/different time zone) students. My ‘evening’ rate is also competitive across the UK.
