Scale Pattern
Below is the major scale pattern used for playing the D shape Major Scale.
The numbers within each note represent the finger numbers that I think are generally best used when playing this scale.

Roots and Scale Degrees
Below is the exact same scale pattern as above, only now we’ve added the Roots (in red) and the Scale Degrees (in blue).

The Chord Shape
Below is the D shape major scale again, but this time I’ve highlighted the D shape chord (with barre) in yellow which this scale is based around. If you look very closely you’ll see the yellow chord is in the shape of an open D chord.
