Below are two images of Position 1 (E shape) Major Scale Pentatonic scale, based within the CAGED System. The First image displays the scale, highlighting the Root notes. The second image displays the scale whilst highlighting the chord shape within the scale. Both images also display all of the scale degrees – R 2 3 5 6.
How To Practice
When we practice this scale, first play the chord shape, then the scale, and the the chord shape. This helps us internalise where the chord shape falls within the scale.
When practicing, always start from the lowest Root note, then play up to the very highest note, back to the very lowest note, and then back to the lowest Root note.
